I want to attend Burke and Beyond, what do I need to do?
If you are currently funded either through Future for Young Adults or through an Individual Support Package, you can contact us directly and organise a visit to one of our services.  If you do not receive any funding, we will be happy to assist you with the process.

Is Burke and Beyond registered to offer services under the NDIS?
Yes, we are already delivering services to people who are funded under the scheme and we will be happy to discuss your needs if you want to get in touch with us.

Can I organise a visit of your services?
You can visit us anytime during business hours, all you have to do is book a time with one of our Service Co-ordinator or the Community Services Manager (see contact section) and make an appointment.

How do I get an Individual Support Package?
Until the full implementation of the NDIS, people who are not currently receiving funding need to register with the Department of Human Services in order to get registered.  Once a person is registered, an assessment can be organised to find out what your current needs are.  Following this assessment, discussions about receiving an Individual Support Package can start with the Department.

The first step is to call the Intake desk at the Disability Office of the Department of Human Services in your local area.  The contact number for the Box Hill office is 9843 6000.

Do you support people for activities other than your Day Service?
Burke and Beyond does support people with an Individual Support Package for all type of activities that are not necessarily part of our Day Service arrangement.  Contact our Community Services Manager to discuss your needs.

Can I claim Mobility Allowance?
Anyone who attends a Day Service can claim the Mobility Allowance.  This extra payment supports people to get to and from the service.  We can assist you in gaining and maintaining this allowance. It is currently around $80.00 a fortnight.  We can also assist you with filling in the necessary documentation. Once a person has an NDIS plan, the mobility Allowance will be ceased and arrangements put in place through the new NDIS plan.

Do you offer transport?
At Burke and Beyond, we support people with transport whilst they are at the service.  We are not in a position to transport people to and from home as there is currently no funding for that activity and we can not afford to do it.  Where possible, we will support people to use public transport.   We will also assist in matching up people living in the same area to minimise the costs if people want to travel by taxi.  The mobility allowance will assist with the cost of transport.  People should also try to include transport cost when negotiating an Individual Support Package or an NDIS plan.
