Do you need support preparing for the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is the new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. The National Disability Insurance Scheme will change the way that services are funded and affect the operations of every organisation providing services to people with a disability.
For the great majority of people attending Burke and Beyond, this means that you can still continue to access our services without much change at all, except for where your funds comes from.
Burke and Beyond, like all service providers across Australia will be delivering services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme once it becomes operational in the eastern region of Melbourne. The Scheme is coming officially into place in the eastern region from the 1st of November 2017 but some people will be offered an NDIS plan before that date. We will organise information sessions for our participants and families once we get closer to the implementation date of the NDIS in our region. If you receive documentation or a call to invite you for a planning session, make sure that you get in touch with your Service Coordinator to discuss your pre-planning needs.
Burke and Beyond has developped a document called Preparing for an NDIS Plan which we are happy to share with you. To obtain a copy, write to Hugh on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call us to arrange a time to discuss it with you. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to become familiar with the NDIS by going to their website at the following address; http://www.ndis.gov.au.
