Bruno Cyr
Bruno was born in the French speaking city of Montreal Canada, and lived there until he was 27 years old. He travelled extensively and has been living in Melbourne since migrating to Australia in 1986. He and his spouse Meredith have two grown up sons.
Bruno has had extensive experience in the disability sector, having worked in a residential setting for people with a disability in the province of Quebec from 1977 to 1983 and has worked in many roles with a number of organisations around Melbourne since his arrival here. Bruno joined Burke and Beyond in 2003 as Coordinator of the Canterbury Service. He then took over as CEO in 2006.
Bruno has helped in making the organisation a go to place for participants by introducing the Next Step Program which now has 3 facilities across the Eastern and Southern region of Melbourne and is still growing. He has grown the organisation to the size that it is today and continues to help it navigate the numerous changes that are constantly happening in this industry.
Bruno brings great enthusiasm to his role and is a strong believer in people with a disability having the same rights as everyone else in the community. He has worked closely with many of his peers in the region and facilitated the creation of the Eastern Disability Services Network which still operates today.
Bruno has recently been asked to join the Board.
